A clear plan for even the longest books.

The redesigned summary sheet makes local AI easier to understand. Pick what matters, preview the work, and stay in control from start to finish.

  • Choose your context and summary length Match your Ollama model from 4K to 128K, then choose a quick, standard, detailed, or custom-length summary.
  • Preview every step before starting See the strategy, estimated server calls, and a smarter context recommendation when a job is too large.
  • Ask questions across the full document Long documents are searched part by part instead of being silently cut off, and any running workflow can be cancelled.

From paper scan to useful knowledge.

OCRBook is built for real documents: multi-page books, imperfect scans, long reading sessions, and private workflows.

Import PDFs & images

Bring in scans from Files, iCloud Drive, Photos, or the Share Sheet and keep them organized in one library.

Page-aware OCR

Recognize long, multi-page documents while keeping the text connected to its original page.

Comfortable TXT reading

Switch from the scan to clean text with familiar page breaks, fast search, copy, and full-text export.

Listen with TTS

Turn recognized text into audio with system text-to-speech for hands-free reading and review.

Private local AI

Connect an Ollama server you control to summarize, translate, and ask questions about your documents.

Made for global readers

Expanded app interface language support makes OCRBook more approachable for readers around the world.

A book becomes searchable in four steps.

Keep the original PDF untouched while OCRBook creates a separate reading layer you can use however you like.

01

Import

Choose a scanned PDF or image from your device, iCloud, or another app.

02

Recognize

Run OCR for the whole book or just the page range you need.

03

Read

Open TXT view to search, copy, export, or listen to the recognized text.

04

Understand

Optionally connect Ollama for summaries, translation, and full-document Q&A.

Your documents. Your server. Your choice.

OCR and reading work on device. If you enable Ollama, OCRBook sends selected or full-document text only to the server address you configure. Use a trusted network or HTTPS whenever possible.

Open setup guide

A few quick answers.

Does OCRBook change my original PDF?

No. Your original file stays untouched. OCR text is stored separately, so you can switch between the scan and TXT view anytime.

Can I use OCRBook offline?

Yes. OCR and reading work offline. Ollama features need a network connection only when your configured server is on another device.

What happens with a very long document?

OCRBook plans around the context length you choose. It can split the document, summarize each part, and merge the results without silently dropping the end.

Can I stop a summary after it starts?

Yes. The workflow shows visible progress and can be cancelled at any time, which stops OCRBook from sending further requests.
